Muscat’s Fish Suq

Nearby the corniche of Mattrah is a white building, with a grey-patterned artsy rooftoop. What looks like a museum from the outside is a Fish market in the inside. In 2011 the municipality renovated the building, which host up to 120 vendors. It’s area is split into two parts: sellers who present the fish on long, tiled tables, bargaining and chit-chatting and the cutting area, where the cutters remove scales and chop the fish into pieces. Take a closer look and meet the men in the fish suq.
